Last week, I made a hair tie organizer diy for my daughters and it worked real well. But I failed to include how to organize the hairbands so I decided to make a matching hairband organizer this time.
Seriously, you don’t have to spend so much for organizing any space in your house. Sometimes it just takes some creativity and resourcefulness. I cannot relax in a messy home and so it is automatic for me to find and fix a place for everything we have. Doesn’t hurt to make it pretty, too, right.
You can make this organizer diy and let me show you how.
Look for a thick cardboard around your home. I used a cardboard I found in my chest of recyclables and used a green coiled wire I already had in my stash.
Use a ruler and measure about 3.5 inches from the bottom and mark it as the base.
Do a freehand drawing of popsicles on the side and an ice cream at the center.
After drawing the ice cream at the center of the base, try getting the width of the hairband and make a good estimate of each distance for the other drawings. The center will hold the hairbands with a hard band and then both sides will hold bands that are soft.
You can use an X-acto knife or scissors to cut away from the cardboard the outlines of the popsicle and ice cream. I just used my powerful scissors..haha. This pair can cut metal and thick cardboard. Power scissors baby!
Then start painting using acrylic paints. Pick the colors that’ll suit the room you’ll put it in. If your cardboard is not white, paint it white first.
Dry the first coat and then paint all your colors a second coat.
When all the paint is dry, use an X-acto knife to bore a hole right at the middle of the ice cream cone and popsicle sticks.
After all the holes are done, get your coiled wire and cut them into 5 strips of about 6 inches in length. Bend the tip of the other end then shape it to a letter J.
Place the wire through the holes. Then bend the wire flat at the back.
To secure the wire, use glue gun and apply glue on the top and bottom of the wire from the back.
Now, you need to make a way to hang this organizer. Just cut a small piece of cardboard and get a string. Sandwich the string and that cardboard piece using a glue gun and attach it to the back of the organizer. Do the same on the other side.
You can now organize all the hairbands with this organizer diy.
After hanging up all the hairbands, you can try repurposing any used box you have and make the matching hair tie organizer to complete the set.
You can totally rock this!
